Diana Harvey, an accomplished communications professional with more than 25 years of experience in higher education and health sectors, is the inaugural vice chancellor for strategic communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Before joining UW–Madison, Harvey served as associate vice chancellor for communications and public affairs at the University of California, Berkeley, where she oversaw communications, marketing, and government and community relations. Prior to her time there, she served as director of communications, marketing, and alumni engagement at Duke University’s Global Health Institute and as chief communications officer and deputy chief of staff to the president at the University of Minnesota.

A Minnesota native, Harvey received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota.

John Lucas serves as assistant vice chancellor for public affairs and institutional communications. His areas of focus include public affairs, issues management, and crisis communication, along with executive and internal communications. Before joining UW–Madison in 2001, he worked as a newspaper reporter in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chicago. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Tricia Nolan serves as assistant vice chancellor for marketing and brand strategy, responsible for leading institutional marketing efforts for campus and managing UW–Madison’s brand platform. During the past 20 years, she has held a variety of marketing positions, and has specialized in nonprofit marketing, branding, and trademark licensing. She has a master’s degree in business from UW–Madison and a BA from the University of Notre Dame.

Kelly Tyrrell serves as assistant vice chancellor for content strategy, responsible for editorial, storytelling, research communication, external engagement, social media, and media relations efforts for UW–Madison. Kelly joined the university as a science writer in 2014 after working as a newspaper reporter in Wilmington, Delaware, and has held positions as research communications director and director of media relations and strategic communications. She has a BS in zoology from the University of Florida and an MS in cellular and molecular biology from UW–Madison. She is an alumna of the American Association for the Advancement of Science Mass Media Fellow program.
