Banners & Signage

Banners

Units must seek specific approval from Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) before hanging banners on campus. Typically, banners are approved for a two-week period to promote special one-time events. Visit University Facility Use Policies and Guidelines for more information.

The banners and lights displayed on Bascom Hill and Bascom Hall are produced and scheduled by the Office of Strategic Communication, and are not available for general campus requests. Banners elsewhere on campus require approval from FP&M.

Banners displayed on the Alicia Ashman Pedestrian Bridge over Campus Drive require approval from the City Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development.

Campus signage

Facilities Planning and Management oversees the design and installation of signage on campus. Review the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design guide and the UW–Madison Exterior Signage & Wayfinding Policy for compliance standards related to design and installation of campus signage.
